Natick's Lost History: Into the 18th Century

Local writer and commentator Peter Golden will be joined by George Sawin as we discuss what happened to the Praying Indians following King Philip’s War and explore the roles played by Thomas Sawin, Thomas Waban the Younger and the Reverend Stephen Badger.

George Sawin is former police officer now employed as a social worker and psychotherapist. The 7th great grandson of Thomas Sawin, the first Englishman to settle in Natick, Sawin has looked deeply into his family’s past. In documenting his ancestors’ migration to America and their almost four centuries of living in New England, he has compiled an invaluable archive of social history. Presently, he is working to preserve his ancestral home, which after three centuries still stands in South Natick.

This third of a five-part series on Natick’s Lost History will take place on January 29th at 7:00pm at the Morse Institute Library - 14 East Central Street, Natick, MA, 01760.

Presentation is free and open to the public. There will be opportunities for audience participation. Due to the controversial nature of the material relating to the early years of the town, parental discretion is advised. Refreshments will be served.
