Modern life has become increasingly hectic due to the every day responsibilities we face. Between kids, work, home, and hobbies - many times we leave important tasks to the last minute, or even fall into oblivion, causing inconvenience and stress. One of these tasks includes remembering to move garbage cans to the curb weekly for city waste collection.

After speaking to residents in our area, we were told that they sometimes had to get out of bed late at night, or very early in the morning because they had forgotten to move their trash cans to the curb.

The people we talked to reported that they were happy to even remember garbage collection at the last minute because if they didn't remember, they would have to wait for the next visit from the garbage truck the following week, and their garbage cans wouldn't have room for one more week of generated waste.

Another common problem residents have is that once garbage cans have been collected, they are now empty and light. This presents the risk of them being exposed to wind and potentially blowing into the middle of the street causing accidents if they aren’t returned to their designated area. Not only is this inconvenient, but also is a safety concern and eyesight to the community.

Paulo Sousa created the local business “Trash Can Safe” to help eliminate homeowners’ stress of moving trash cans to the curbside, then moving them back to a designated area soon after collection. His idea was praised by the city of Natick as it will help keep the city clean, organized, and visually appealing.

Thanks to Paulo’s problem-solving idea, residents in Natick can be relieved of the hassle of remembering to prepare for garbage collection day- saving time and stress. This is especially convenient for New England weather as it can become very cold and snowy during certain times of the year. Trash Can Safe is priced starting at $5.00 per week, making it convenient and accessible to all residents.

Natick was the first city chosen to launch the service, but Paulo has plans to expand to other areas very soon. By spreading the word about Trash Can Safe, residents of Natick can help make access to worry-free garbage collection services available to the entire city and neighboring cities.
