NHS Evacuates After Gas Smell Detected

Natick High School evacuated for less than 15 minutes after a gas smell traveled to campus from the new construction site next door.

Around 9:30 Tuesday morning, a gas smell in the courtyard prompted school officials to be cautious and evacuate students and staff, according to principal Rose Bertucci.

The determined that the smell was caused by a small leak in a gasline at the construction site of the new high school next door, said Bertucci.

Students and staff were allowed back in the building in less than 15 minutes.
