UPDATE: Town Responds to Teen's Death

Natick High School senior Justin Bailey died in his home Wednesday evening.

UPDATED STORY, 5 p.m. Thursday:

senior Justin Bailey, 17, was reported to have died in his home Wednesday evening of natural causes. EMTs responded to the medical call. Bailey was a forward, number 17, on the NHS varsity hockey team.

Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone's office said the death is not suspicious and is not under investigation.

Athletic director Tim Collins said the past 24 hours have been difficult for the community, including Bailey's teammates. Both the boys and girls teams spent the day together and other coaches visited with the players to offer support. Collins said murals were available for students to sign Thursday at NHS.

"Anytime you lose a young person without explanation, it's really difficult to handle," said Collins, who spent part of Wednesday night and Thursday with the Bailey family. "Justin was a great kid and comes from a great family."

Bailey has two brothers in the Natick Public School system and his mother Nicole Bailey is the cafeteria manager at .

"On behalf of all the Natick Public Schools community, our deepest sympathy during this time of great sadness goes out to Justin’s friends, family and teachers," said superintendent of schools Peter Sanchioni. "He will be greatly missed."

Sanchioni said guidance counselors will be available to talk to grieving students at all of the schools.

A Facebook page has been created to remember Bailey and many friends are changing their profile pictures to honor him with the words "#17 Justin Bailey Forever in Our Hearts."

All boys and girls varsity and junior varsity games have been suspended until further notice.
