NStar Updates, Snowtober and Occupy Top Social Media

You can follow Natick Patch on Twitter and Facebook.

Social Media Saturday is a weekly feature where Natick Patch highlights some of what people shared on Facebook and other media in the past week.

We'll also point you to some new and interesting pages you may not have known about before.

Highlights of the Week

Natick Patch has 505 followers on our Facebook page. This week our facebook page was a busy place as we tried to keep readers informed of changes in trick-or-treating, timing on power restoration and other important information.

Local residents learned that breaking and entering was occuring in town and wanted to know where. In minutes, Natick Patch was able to reply with a street name.

There was also chatter on both Twitter and Facebook as well as in our shout stream (the column down the side of Natick Patch's home page), that updated residents on the power outages and where they were occuring. With the advent of smart phones and social media, power is not necessary for electronic communication even when huge amounts of snow fall in late October.

The Occupy movement is also coming towards Natick. Will you participate and share your experiences on facebook and twitter?

Social Media Page of the Week

Each week we choose one local page for the coveted honor of social media page of the week. We choose based on the pop of the page, the number of likes and the extent of up-to-date and pertinent wall information. If you'd like to be considered for this honor, email Faith594@msn.com and tell us about your page. And now for this week's honoree. The social media page of the week goes to...The Natick Mall. With the holidays fast approaching and 3,077 likes on this page it seemed a natural fit.

Exciting things are happening this weekend at the mall.

"Pop into the new Pottery Barn Teen - PBteen pop-up store in the Natick Mall next to Nordstrom this weekend for amazing giveaways and contests," the post reads. " Be one of the first 500 fans to check-in on Facebook or create a wishlist and receive a free backsack with the chance to win a $250 gift card!

Here are but a few pages you might want to check out:

Eric W. Ruben, Attorney at Law, P.C. - This page has 255 likes and is full of valuable legal information. Ruben also shares a blog on Patch full of tips for all types of people.

Bronzetti's Pizza of Natick - This page has 31 likes, but we know a lot more folks out there eat pizza. We thought giving them a shout out may help to bolster their numbers.

Natick Service Council - This page has 116 likes and a member is sharing on the wall about her experience at a local food pantry. Check them out.
