Martin W. Stanhope, age 93, a longtime Natick resident, died peacefully at Laurel Point Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fort Pierce, Florida, on Monday, August 20th. He was the husband of the late Maxine G. (Penny) Stanhope.
Born, raised and educated in Calais, Maine, he was the son of the late Maynard and Ethel (Hansen) Stanhope. Martin married Maxine and the couple moved to Massachusetts, living briefly in Brookline prior to settling in Natick to raise their family.

Martin was employed throughout his adult life as a carpenter and was the owner operator of Martin Stanhope Carpentry in Natick for many years. After his retirement, the Stanhopes moved to Hudson. Following Maxine’s death in 2004, Martin settled in Port St. Lucie, Florida. He very much enjoyed tackling remodeling and repair jobs, both at home and for friends and family. He was devoted to his Baptist faith and was happiest surrounded by family and close friends.
He is survived by three of his five children, Carol A. Manwaring of Rindge, NH, Martin L. “Bud” Stanhope of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Irene J. Creasia of Woonsocket, RI; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sons Robert N. Stanhope and Gerald A. Stanhope; grandsons Michael Stanhope and Robert MacDonald; and a sister, Ruth Colbeth.

His funeral service will be held at the , on Friday, August 24th at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at , South Natick. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 12 p.m.
