Obituary: Richard Nielsen

The WWII veteran leaves a multi-generational family.

Richard H. Nielsen Sr., 92 died July 8. He was born and raised in Boston where he also served as Chief Building Inspector until his retirement in 1989. He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Victoria, in 2010. Their prodigious family included 5 children, 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.

He was a WWII veteran of the Army Air Corps, and was an enthusiastic pianist and organist. As a member of the Masons, he played the organ at Masonic halls throughout the state.

His funeral will take place on Friday, July 13 at 1 p.m. in . Visiting hours will be held in the prior to the service beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial with military honors will follow the service in , South Natick. Those wishing to remember Mr. Nielsen may do so through memorial donations to the Shriners Hospital for Children – Boston, 51 Blossom St. Boston, MA 02114.
