Opera del West: A Night at the Cabaret
Sunday February 15, 2015 7:00pm $25 public / $20 members

Join Opera del West for an intimate night of cabaret songs in honor of Valentine’s Day. Enjoy humorous, poignant and powerful songs by Benjamin Britten, William Bolcom, Erik Satie, Domenick Argento, Kurt Weill, and Richard Pearson Thomas as well as some American Songbook classics by Gershwin and Bernstein. (There might even be a surprise visit from Edith Piaf.) Sung by six Opera del West favorites: Nathan Rodriguez and Sara Avari from last summer’s “The Seagull,” Erika Mitchell and Katrina holden from “Little Women,” and Christine Field and Brendan Buckley from “Amelia Goes to the Ball.”
Every kind of romantic relationship will be represented, from the young yearnings of Tony and Maria in West Side Story, to a quirky couple that are meant to be togther due to both being “Damaged.” One woman just wants someone to “Tell me the truth about love” while another can’t walk through her town without someone shouting, “Amor.”
As always, there will be complimentary champagne and chocolates to toast your sweetheart at intermission. Kristen Cairns will stage direct and emcee the evening, and Eve Budnick will serve as pianist and music director.
