Person Killed By Framingham-Worcester Commuter Rail Train

The Wednesday evening incident caused delays up and down the Framingham-Worcester commuter rail line.

NATICK, MA — A person was hit and killed by a commuter rail train in Natick Wednesday evening, according to transit police.

The incident happened around 5 p.m. behind the Veterans of Foreign Wars post along West Central Street. Police did not immediately give a reason why the person was near the tracks.

The incident caused long delays up and down the Framingham-Worcester commuter rail line on Wednesday night. The MBTA closed down both tracks in the area near where the person was killed. The tracks reopened by about 8 p.m., but lingering backups delayed trains up to two hours after the incident.

In late May, two people were hit and killed by commuter rail trains in separate incidents.

On May 22, a man was hit and killed while crossing tracks in Hanson early in the morning. Abington resident Katelyn McCarthy, 18, died on May 13 while crossing tracks at the Abington station.

Transit police did not immediately identify the person killed in Natick Wednesday.
