Primrose School Teaching Giving This Holiday Season
Students were taught that the holiday season is not just about presents but giving as well.

The Primrose School of Natick collected over 300 food items for their Caring and Giving Food Drive. The drive not only provided food for the needy but taught the young students the importance of giving back to the community.
During the month of November, preschool, pre-K and kindergarten students practiced responsibility by earning money for the food items through age-appropriate chores at home. With the money the kids earned they were able to buy food to donate to "A Place to Turn" food pantry.
"It teaches the kids giving without receiving and its used in their math and english curriculum," said school owner Suzanne Cohn. Students created shopping lists for the foods they planned to purchase and used their math skills to calculate the total.

The giving spirit continues into December as the school prepares for a coat drive and sponsors families in need and provides them with holiday gifts. Cohn says students get so invested in the activities that they go above and beyond with their efforts. "We held a fundraiser and one little girl brought her whole piggy bank to donate," Cohn said.
The school hopes to instill a spirit of giving without receiving all through the school year, not just during the holidays.
