RCN Offers Free Calls to Japan

RCN internet, cable and phone services announced today that it will offer free calls to Japan and Japan Mobile for its phone customers. 

Calls must be made from the customer's home line, but the company warns that not all calls may be completed due to the damage from the recent earthquake an subsequent tsunami in Japan.

All RCN customers will also have access to Japanese television programming through March 31 on channel 504.

"Our thoughts go out to the people of Japan,” stated Jim Holanda, RCN CEO in a press release. “To waive phone charges is just a small way that we can assist our customers in their need to contact loved ones and friends in Japan.”
