Representative David Linsky announces DEP Funds

FUNDS WILL BOOST WASTE REDUCTION EFFORTS IN THE FIFTH MIDDLESEX

BOSTON- Representative David P. Linsky (D-Natick) announced that the three towns in the Fifth Middlesex District are recipients of the Sustainable Materials Recovery Program (SMRP) grants from the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).

The Sustainable Materials Recovery Program, a Massachusetts legislative initiative, directs a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Waste Energy Certificates to recycling programs approved by MassDEP. The SMRP grants offer funding to cities, towns, and regional entities for recycling, composting, reuse, and source reduction activities that will increase diversion of municipal solid waste and household hazardous waste from disposal.

“The Sustainable Materials Recovery Program is a crucial program with a strong track record of success, I am proud to say that the towns in the 5th Middlesex District have once again been awarded grant funds from MassDEP,” said Representative Linsky. “This grant money will go toward supplementing the already potent waste reduction efforts in Millis, Natick, and Sherborn.”
