Before Revamping Natick Center, Town Wants Public Input

A working group now in creation is open to Natick residents and businesspeople.

NATICK, MA — Since 2023, the town has been considering how to improve street design in Natick Center, and now there’s a chance for residents to get involved in the process.

A working group now forming will vet and refine preliminary concepts for the overhaul, a news release says. The group would include not only town staffers and officials, but Natick residents and businesspeople.

The group’s feedback would then guide more technical design work in the next few years. Construction could begin by the early 2030s.

The focus is a busy corridor of Main Street, running about one-third of a mile between Cottage Street and South Avenue.

The town has said the project will expand access for pedestrians and cyclists, update aging roadways and make needed improvements in wayfinding, lighting and streetscape. Ultimately, the goals are to enhance safety, relieve traffic congestion and spur economic development.
