Roland Lounsbury, 86, Acoustic Engineer with Pratt and Whitney Aircraft

There are no calling hours; services are held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 22, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Natick.

Roland F. Lounsbury, 86, of Simsbury, beloved and devoted husband of Marion (Dickson) Lounsbury, died Thursday, December 11, 2014 at his home. He was born March 3, 1928 in Hartford, son of the late Elford Floyd and Elenor (Lewis) Lounsbury and had lived in Simsbury for much of his entire life.

He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Lounsbury was an Acoustic Engineer with Pratt and Whitney Aircraft for 41 years prior to his retirement in 1993. Roland enjoyed the ocean, spending time outdoors, bird watching and fishing.

Besides his loving wife of 63 years, he is survived by his Daughter, Meredith Lounsbury Despins and her husband Gary, of Pasadena, MD; his son, David Lounsbury and his wife Zita of Natick, MA; his sister, Marsha Richmond of Schaumburg, IL; his grandchildren, Krystal Despins of Pasadena, MD, Robin Despins of Seattle, WA and Brendan Lounsbury of State College, PA and several nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours. Services will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Natick, MA on December 22nd at 11 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Maine Audubon Society, 20 Gilsland Farm Road, Falmouth, ME 04105 – (207) 781-2330 Attn: Development Office.
