Second ONEmetrowest Day Will Feature Local Service Opportunities
Six volunteer events will mark ONEmetrowest Day, which was first celebrated in 2020.
NATICK, MA — The second ONEmetrowest Day will be held Friday, offering MetroWest residents the opportunity to either participate in local volunteer events or donate to local nonprofits.
The volunteer grew out of a Foundation for MetroWest fundraising campaign at the end of 2020. This year, there will be six events to participate in, plus a $50,000 matching fundraiser for the Natick-based Foundation for MetroWest.
The six volunteer opportunities include:

- Boston Area Gleaners: 9 to 11 a.m., volunteers will pack and assemble fresh produce boxes for families in need.
- Middlesex Human Service Agency (MHSA): 10 a.m. to noon, volunteers will assemble Thanksgiving kits for the MHSA holiday giving program.
- Rise Above Foundation: 10 a.m. to noon, a remote event where volunteers can write care package notes for foster kids in college.
- Dignity Matters: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., volunteers will gather at the Framingham nonprofit to create kits full of personal care items for women in poverty.
- Charles River Watershed Association: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., volunteers will remove invasive species at the Warren Woods in Ashland.
- Cultural Alliance of Medfield: 3 to 5 p.m., volunteers will refurbish park benches at Medfield State Hospital.
Apart from the volunteer events, Foundation for MetroWest trustee Louis Crosier, and his wife Hope, will match donations up to $50,000. The Foundation is in the midst of a campaign to raise $350,000 by the end of December. The campaign was just over $200,000 as of Monday.
"ONEmetrowest Day is about bringing communities together to take action and get involved in the great work happening just outside their door. We always say, if you live here, we hope you consider giving here," Foundation Executive Director Jay Kim said in a news release.
