Suds Up: Lookout Farm In Natick Is Now Making Beer
For years, Lookout Farm has been making cider. Now, they've added farm fresh beer.
NATICK, MA—Lookout Farm Brewing Co. is one of the oldest operating farms in the country, and entered the craft beverage industry in 2015 when it launched its hard cider line. Now, they're serving up something more sudsy, adding farm fresh beer to its line-up.
The expansion, said the farm's announcement, reinforces its commitment to sustainable agriculture, with many of the new beers set to feature ingredients sourced directly from the farm.
“Our mission has always been about farm sustainability,” said Jay Mofenson, Lookout Farm
Brewing Co. owner, in a statement. “Adding farm fresh beer to our line-up enables us to expand our crop
selection and find additional uses for what we grow, ultimately providing visitors with even
more options to enjoy.”

Lookout Farm is establishing a hopyard right on-site to work toward diversifying its crops and create new beers. Spanning across an acre of land, the farm plans to grow more than a dozen different hop varieties.
Once established, visitors will see the vast field filled with hop vines and flowers immediately upon entering the farm, said the release.

The first four farm-inspired beers from Lookout Farm Brewing Co. are now available exclusively
at the Lookout Farm Taproom. The initial line-up features an American IPA, American Kolsch,
American Stout, and Belgian Tripel. To help support other farmers, Lookout Farm Brewing Co.
will donate 1 percent of its retail beer and hard cider proceeds to their neighbor, the Natick
Organic Community Farm, a non-profit, certified organic farm providing productive open space
and hands-on education for community members; and FarmAid, the national organization
dedicated to providing immediate and effective support services to farm families.
Taking charge of the creative direction of Lookout Farm Brewing Co. is Aaron Mateychuk, current Lookout Farm Hard Cider head Cidermaster with more than 20 years experience.
“Farming is synonymous with inspiration,” said Mateychuk in a statement. “There’s nothing better than walking through the orchard and seeing the fruit mature. When I see plums, peaches and strawberries, I can’t help but think of the brewing possibilities.”
Near the hopyard is the stand market where visitors can enjoy beverages in the Lookout Farm Taproom, and also enjoy some food offerings.
“Great beer is a sensory experience,” added Mateychuk in a statement. “That’s why we want to provide taproom visitors with the opportunity to see and interact with the land that inspires us as farmers and as brewers.”
