WATCH: Natick Police Suggest Getting A Legitimate Job Rather Than Breaking Into Places

"We suggest a 40 hour gig during normal working hours would be a better track."

NATICK, MA — The Natick Police Department's perhaps got the best sense of humor of any in the region, and its recent detailed recount of a would-be thief who runs from the sound of an alarm is no exception.

On March 12, this video surveillance (below) caught the burglar trying to pry his way in to the establishment, and Natick police are trying to find the identity of the person.

"We are in the helping business," stated a police spokesperson on the Facebook page. "A large part of helping is that you take things seriously and never make sport of people who have issues that are beyond their control. We were hoping you could help us help this person captured on video."

In the video, police point to a "person plying their craft which is to break into places at times they do not belong. The goal is to relieve the property owner of items of value that may be easily transferable into cash or perhaps substances not commonly associated with pharmaceutical controls found in your average CVS. No way of us knowing without direct inquiry as to the motivation of this character, but no matter what it may be, we suggest a 40 hour gig during normal working hours would be a better track."

When the door springs the alarm, the suspect takes off.

"Common sense tells us that the alarm may have sounded allowing this person to instantly regain his sensibilities and seek rehabilitation without our assistance (if only). We believe it to be one of two possibilities: Phonophobia, also called ligyrophobia or sonophobia, is a fear of or aversion to loud sounds. This is a real thing and treatment is beneficial, but a level of expertise we do not possess.
or Cell-u-litis, also called bluelightphobia or Grey Bar Inn Disorder, is a fear of being placed in a jail cell for an extended period of time. In this instance we offer an immersive aversion therapy over a period of several months with our partners in Corrections. Results vary.

"Although we have mixed emotions with the return of the 1970s-style snorkel jacket we hope that it may be evocative enough for someone out there to point us in the right direction of identifying this character," said police.

Anyone who can assist with the identification is asked to contact the Natick Police Department Detective Division at: 508-647-9520. You may report anonymously using the online reporting system found at www.natickpolice.com or by using this link: http://www.natickma.gov/201/Online-Reporting
