WATCH: Organized Retail Crime Thief Now Targeting Massachusetts

The thief is so well-known to loss prevention agents in New York and Connecticut, that he's moved activity to Massachusetts.

NATICK, MA — Natick police noted recently that its Facebook page is quite often filled with incidents involving theft.

“We catch our share, often times with your help,” police wrote. “There are others who are more difficult to catch.”

The people in this videos, said police, carved out a niche called organized retail crime.

“These people are very adroit in their craft. They employ teams, run counter-surveillance, utilize communication systems, often times steal to order and provide a strong stream of cash should one or a few get caught. The FBI has estimated that ORC may be responsible for up to 30 Billion dollars a year in recorded losses.”

Such a crew recently visited a Natick store, with their activity caught on surveillance video after clerks spotted that a large quantity of merchandise was missing.

The subject in the video is “known to Loss Prevention of a national chain.”

Up until recently, the man concentrated his efforts in New York and Connecticut. He has become so well known to them that he’s bringing his activities to new venues, said police.

“ A review of his criminal history would place him in the category of prolific to say the least.”

Two women accompanied him on his latest lift. One female left the store with a full bag of merchandise, and the other would join him and repeat the act. The store recorded a loss of more than $6,000 perpetrated by the threesome in very short order.

“We are confident that they visited other communities with retail centers and their trip from NYC was for them, worth their efforts. We are also confident that the next time this guy encounters a police officer a Warrant awaits.”
