• Western Mass. residents sound off on pitch to send millions more gallons of Quabbin water east (wamc.org) — New Salem’s town coordinator is pushing back against a proposal to draw 20 million more gallons a day from the Quabbin and Wachusett system, arguing local watershed towns can’t even access that water while their own wells run dry. At a packed state hearing, New Salem and neighboring communities questioned the plan’s transparency, fairness, and environmental impact, urging regulators to reveal which eastern towns would benefit before any approval.
