2-Alarm Basement Fire In Newton Home
Newton firefighters were fighting a fire this morning watch for traffic delays near Chestnut and Beacon Street.

NEWTON, MA — Firefighters are fighting a 2-Alarm fire at a two and a half story wood frame home near the corner of Beacon and Chestnut streets on Pine Ridge Road. Firefighters reported flames showing from the basement and three engines were on their way at 11 a.m.
At 11:08 a.m. fire officials struck the second alarm and firefighters believed someone might still be in the home, but after a primary search Firefighters didn't find anyone, they reported over the radio.
Newton Fire are working a number of reports of fires this morning, including a transformer fire on Algonquin road.

Police were asking people to stay away from the area of Beacon and Chestnut streets and watch for traffic delays in the area, too.
