
NEWTON, MA — Just before 5 p.m. Newton firefighters raced to put out a two-alarm fire at a home on Stratford Road.
Firefighters said over the police and fire radio that the fire was headed up the chimney wall and were evacuating the second floor on account of soft spots there.
Fire officials say there were two people home at the time of the fire, but there are no reported injuries at this time.
