2-Alarm Fire In Newton Started By Dryer
At 6 p.m. Newton Police were still encouraging drivers to avoid the area.

NEWTON, MA — Newton firefighters rescued two people from an apartment and put out a fire on Langley Road that went to 2 alarms this evening, according to firefighters.
No injuries were reported as of 5:35 p.m. according to officials.
About 4:23 p.m. firefighters were called to a four story brick building with a report of a fire. The fire started in a clothes dryer, but was contained to the apartment where it started, according to officials.

The building is home to at least nine condo units, each valued at anywhere from $450,000 to $906,000, according to city records. Fire officials put the initial damage estimate at $50,000.
Video from New England Fire Photography shows the road blocked off, so it would likely be a good idea to avoid that area as firefighters work.
