After Selling Newton Home, Jon Lester Chooses Cubs Over Red Sox
Lester called it an "extremely difficult decision."
Another reason to be miserable amid all this dreary weather—former Red Sox fan favorite Jon Lester agreed to sign a long-term deal with the Chicago Cubs.
ESPN reported Lester will ink a 6-year, $155 million deal with the Cubs. The Red Sox had offered Lester the same number of years for $135 million.
Last month, Lester sold his Newton home as he weighed his future.

“To Red Sox Nation, I understand the disappointment,” Lester tweeted Wednesday. “Boston will always have a big place in my heart and we’ll always consider y’all family!”

Lester reportedly sold his 7 Bernard St. home for $1.85 million. It has four bedrooms, five bathrooms, a wine cellar, and workshop. Here are some photos from rexwaltham.com:
Lester, who led the Red Sox to two World Series titles, was traded to the Oakland Athletics in August. The Red Sox missed the playoffs, while the A’s clinched a wild card berth but lost in a one-game playoff in which Lester started.
