Alleged Serial Shoplifter, Pumpkin Pitched Through Porch Window, OUI: Newton Crime Log

Friday, Nov. 18
• Three past incidents of larceny were reported at Bloomingdales at 225 Boylston St. On Sept. 28, Oct. 24 and Nov. 13, a female entered the store and walked off with several items. Employees at the store believe it to be the same person in all three incidents.

Saturday, Nov. 19
• A past vandalism was reported on Commonwealth Avenue. The callers said when they returned home that afternoon they noticed someone had thrown a softball-sized pumpkin through their front porch window.

Sunday, Nov. 20
• Sean Taillefer, 22, of Dalton, was arrested during a motor vehicle stop. Police allegedly smelled a strong odor of alcoholic beverage and reported he had bloodshot, glossy eyes and slurred speech. He was charged with operating under the influence of liquor and failure to stop or yield.
• A woman called police after she witnessed a breaking and entering of a car. She told police she was walking out of her building on Maple Terrace at Lasell College and crossed Woodland Road toward Seminary Avenue. She said she noticed a man looking into a car while the alarm was going off. The car's driver side window had been smashed but no items were missing. She crossed the street, and the man kept his back to her and walked down the street to hide. He was described as fair-skinned, possibly Caucasian or Hispanic, with brown hair, a green fleece jacket and cargo pants and about 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches in height.
Monday, Nov. 21
• A fire was reported in the park on Allan Avenue around 1:59 a.m. Flames were seen from a spot where a port-o-potty had previous stood. They had also spread to a tree and a wooden fence. The fire was knocked down.
Tuesday, Nov. 22
• Odwin Noel Palma-Carias, 26, was arrested for a default warrant after an accident in the Auburndale post office area. Police discovered Palma-Carias had a warrant for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
• A breaking and entering and larceny was reported at the Radio Shack at 241 Needham St. The caller said he arrived to open at the store at 8:15 a.m. and discovered the door was forced open. He was unsure exactly how many phones were missing.
Wednesday, Nov. 23
• A caller reported a smash coming from the back of a work van and laughter from behind the van. Two younger males with black sweatshirts and green and red backpacks were seen, and the back passenger window of the van was broken.
