NEWTON, MA — A new Irish pub with a dog-friendly patio is eyeing a pre-St. Patrick's Day is opening in the Nonantum section of Newton.
The Dooliner Irish Pub and Restaurant appears set to open in the former location of Cafe Martin West Street, which closed at the end of 2023 after two years in business.
According to the Dooliner Facebook page, the spot at 7 West Street will include a dog-friendly patio.
Owners posted last week: "Crossing some T's and dotting some I's before we open our doors.
"Fingers crossed before St. Paddy's."
Cafe Martin West Street, which Adrienne Martin opened in tribute to her late husband, John, who died after a battle with ALS in 2018, closed in December with Martin citing, the "ever-increasing cost of doing business."
She said she did not want to compromise the business's mission and vision to stay open in the location.
