Newton Nonprofit Receives Statewide Grant Funding

NEWTON, MA — Cradles to Crayons is among 17 Massachusetts nonprofits receiving funding through the latest round of grants from the Sincere Foundation.

The Framingham-based foundation announced Tuesday that it awarded a total of $200,000 to organizations working to address food insecurity, housing instability, and access to safe spaces for children and families across the state.

According to the foundation, Cradles to Crayons was one of five organizations selected in the "Safe Spaces" grant category. The Newton branch of Cradles to Crayons is located at 281 Newtonville Ave. and works to combat clothing insecurity among children. According to the organization, approximately 20 million children nationwide are not adequately clothed.

The nonprofit provides clothing, school supplies, and other essential items to children experiencing homelessness, poverty, or crisis situations.

The 17 grant recipients collectively serve more than 400,000 Massachusetts residents each year. This year's funding round included seven first-time grant recipients and 10 returning nonprofit partners.

"We are proud to support this remarkable group of nonprofit organizations and the essential work they do across Massachusetts," Sincere Foundation Executive Director Rebecca Reiner said in a statement. "Their collective impact strengthens communities throughout the Commonwealth and we are honored to help advance their efforts."

According to the foundation, grant recipients were selected across three focus areas: food security, housing stability, and safe spaces. Organizations receiving support in the safe spaces category alongside Cradles to Crayons include Horizons for Homeless Children, OUT MetroWest, The Care Center, and the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lowell.

The foundation has awarded more than $1.2 million to 63 Massachusetts nonprofits since launching in 2023. The organization is supported by Framingham-based Sincere Corporation, the parent company of brands including Punchbowl, Lovebird, Timehop, and Memento.
