• One summonsed to court after antisemitic graffiti incident in Newton Highlands (figcitynews.com) — Police say antisemitic chalk graffiti, including swastikas and a Nazi phrase, was found this week on the playground at The Aven at Newton Highlands, leading to a 20-year-old being summonsed to court for defacement of property. Newton police call it an isolated hate incident, report no ongoing threat to public safety, and note they've tracked 10 antisemitic incidents in the city so far this year.
• Caterpillars take center stage this weekend at Garden in the Woods (wickedlocal.com) — Families from Newton are heading to nearby Framingham this Labor Day weekend for hands-on caterpillar tours at Garden in the Woods, running daily through Monday from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. With dozens of native species on display and guided walks led by The Caterpillar Lab, it's an easy nature outing for Newton residents looking for a close-to-home adventure.
