
June 4, 2012 (Boston, MA) – Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts (GSEM) announces the appointment of Jan Goldstein as Chief Marketing Officer. Goldstein will manage marketing efforts for the council and its major initiatives, including summer camp, Girl Scout cookie sales, STEM programming and the annual Leading Women Breakfast to be held November 1. More broadly, Goldstein and her team will develop and implement a marketing plan to raise GSEM’s visibility and educate the public about its mission and diverse programs that serve 41,000 girls ages 5-17.
"As we continue through this remarkable year of 100th anniversary celebrations, we are excited to leverage increased awareness to engage new supporters, especially alumnae,” said Ruth N. Bramson, CEO, Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts. “We are excited to have Jan join our team and bring her extensive experience in raising the visibility of non-profits, as well as her tremendous energy and creativity to our efforts.”
Prior to joining GSEM, Goldstein served for nearly eight years as the Director of Marketing and Communications at Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston. Previously, she was the Director of Strategic Communications at the national headquarters of City Year, Vice President at MS&L Public Relations, Director of Communications at American Public Television, and Account Supervisor at Cone, Inc., all in Boston. In addition, Goldstein has served as a literacy volunteer, a Big Sister, and a committee member for the Newton Historic House Tour. She was a Girl Scout and a Brownie, and she holds a B.A. from Union College.
