Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates Appoints Dr. James Cooley, Medical Director for Care Improvement

Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates, a multi-specialty physician practice with offices across eastern Massachusetts and an affiliate of Atrius Health, is proud to announce that Dr. James Cooley has been appointed the Medical Director for Care Improvement at Harvard Vanguard.  In addition to his new responsibilities, Dr. Cooley will also continue his pediatric practice at Harvard Vanguard’s Wellesley office.

Dr. Cooley has been with Harvard Vanguard for 27 years, during which he has participated in numerous quality improvement efforts, including some of the earliest efforts as part of the organization’s Clinical Quality Management Program. He worked on asthma and immunization measurement, and earned an award from Group Health Association of America for his work on the Pediatric Immunization Registry.

Previously Dr. Cooley was pediatric chief and site clinical leader for the care improvement effort at Harvard Vanguard Wellesley. He also served as Harvard Vanguard Wellesley’s site medical director from 1997 to 1999 and has been chair of the Harvard Vanguard Pediatric Quality Committee since 2000.

Dr. Cooley received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tenn. and completed his internship and residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital, New Haven, Conn. He was a fellow in Child Development with T. Berry Brazelton, MD, at Harvard’s Children’s Hospital in Boston. 

Dr. Cooley is a resident of Newton Highlands, Mass.
