The Newton Cultural Alliance would like to thank all those who supported our inaugural Building Culture and Community Gala this past Saturday, April 28. The gala honored Tom Concannon; Tom is NCA's Board President, a former mayor of Newton, and lifelong friend of this city and its cultural landscape.
Steve & Barbara Grossman served as the gala's co-chairs and emcees along with honorary co-chairs David Cohen, Joe DeNucci, Barney Frank and Mayor Setti Warren.
Also in attendance were Cindy Creem, Kay Khan, Ruth Balser, 18 Newton Aldermen and representatives from NCA's 22 member organizations plus friends and family of Tom and local community arts champions.

Reception entertainment was provided by Alderman Jay Harney and violinist Josef Porteleki. A string quartet composed of representatives from the New Philharmonia Orchestra, Suzuki School of Newton, First Baptist Church and Johnson String Instrument delighted the audience while the vocal stylings of Dan Funk and Alderman David Kalis with his wife Anne were fitting tributes to Tom's light-hearted nature and great spirit!
NCA pays a special thank you to Scott Gregorian of Gregorian Rug for hosting the event and the many volunteers who helped make the event a great success!
