Two Newton youth, Lina Takaoka a 14-year-old honor
student at F.A. Day Middle School and Amber Wolf an eighth grader at BB&N School in Cambridge, and Meghan
Gupta, a 13-year-old seventh grader at Mount Alvernia High School who lives in Waban, were a part of the Ice Chips 2012 100 Years of Excellence, a skating show celebrating the dreams and accomplishments of the past, present, and future of figure skating.

This year’s 100th Anniversary Production celebrated
the legacy of the world-renowned figure skating venue, The Skating Club of Boston, through an innovative, entertaining, and visually illuminating production. With a dramatic display of colors, lights, and dazzling skating performances, Lina and Amber were a part of a cast
that took the audience on a fascinating journey through some of the most memorable highlights of the past century. All three skaters were 2012 New England Regional Competitors and were featured in a production number in which they had step-outs.

The Ice Chips show starred 2010 Olympic Champion Eric Lysacek and Mirai Nagasu, 2010 Olympian and 3-time U.S. Ladies Medalist as well as top skaters from the Boston area. Ice Chips is The Skating Club of Boston’s annual skating festival and the longest-running amateur ice show in the world.  It has brought Boston audiences some of the biggest names in figure skating from
around the world, while introducing them to current and future champions. The 2012 production of Ice Chips benefitted the Division of Sports Medicine at Children’s Hospital and the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts.
