Another Break-in on Maplewood in Newton?
There have been at least two reports of someone breaking into garages on Maplewood Avenue in Newton in the past week, say police.
If you've noticed anything suspicious on Maplewood Avenue recently Newton Police might be interested in hearing about it. A second Maplewood Avenue resident called to report a garage was broken into recently, saying he was missing some tools.
On April 16, the Newton Police received a call from a resident saying their garage had been broken into and a bicycle was taken. This caller said he hadn't been into his garage for a few days but when he went in on April 20, noticed that some drawers were open and some of his tools were missing.
The man said his garage is usually left unlocked and it looked like whoever broken in got in through the overhead door. He told police he noticed three screwdrivers, one set of pliers and one electric drill missing from the opened drawers.

Police said they talked to a resident whose property abuts the Maplewood resident's garage, and that resident said he'd found a toolbox belonging to the man whose garage was rifled through. He told police it looked like someone had tossed it over the fence onto his property and noticed it about a week ago but only had a chance to talk to his neighbor tonight. Police said they returned the toolbox to the rightful owner.
