Paul Chagnon, Asst. Fire Chief, Dies at 60
The Newton Fire Department announced Chagnon died after a battle with cancer.

NEWTON, MA - Assistant Fire Chief Paul Chagnon has died, the Newton Fire Department announced. He was 60.
Chagnon died March 25 after a long battle with cancer, Chief Bruce Proia said.
Chagnon was appointed in 1986 and climbed the ranks in the department. He was promoted to lieutenant in 1986, captain in 1998, deputy chief in 2003, and assistant chief in 2011.

Visitation hours will be between 4 p.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday at Burke & Blackington Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be at St. Bernard Church at 10 a.m. Thursday. There will be a private burial.
