Award-Winning Chef Opens Pop-Up Café at The Street

Ron Suhanosky, winner of the James Beard Award, will operate Ronsky's out of The Pop-Up through the end of the year.

CHESTNUT HILL, MA - A James Beard Award-winning chef opened a new gourmet pop-up café at The Street Monday, to operate through the end of the year.

Ronsky's, the brainchild of Ron Suhanosky, is a one-of-a-kind café that is personalized by its chef and operator. The menu features twists on Suhanosky's family recipes, and he has transformed the intimate pop-up space with white tin tiled ceilings, harlequin floors, walls with splashes of gold and a communal table from his great-grandmother's kitchen.

Suhanosky comes to The Street with two cookbooks and a restaurant under his belt. That venture, Sfoglia, had locations in Manhattan and Nantucket, and was famous for its spirited and authentic Italian fare.

A self-taught coffee connoisseur, Suhanosky's mantra is, "If I have a good coffee, it will be a good day."

His pop-up has sourced the finest cold brew and drip coffees, as well as Italian espresso by Esse. Outside of java, his menu boasts a wide array of breakfast sandwiches, made on a black pepper Italian biscuit with eggs, fontina cheese and breakfast sausage from New England Charcuterie, avocado toast and a ricotta donut recipe passed down from his grandmother.

In the afternoon, Suhanosky will be pressing 10 different types of panini, served on bread from Slow Rise Bakery in Concord.

Complementing Ronsky's, Suhanosky will also operate "The Pop-Up on Wheels," a vintage coffee trike that will bring a traveling grab-and-go menu to The Street.

“Chestnut Hill has this chic, sophisticated personality that I adore – I am excited to open something with real specialization and passion here, something that breathes personality and originality into the neighborhood," Suhanosky said in a press release. "The Street is both a destination for Bostonians and a central gathering place for the Chestnut Hill community; it means a lot to me that Ronsky’s will give residents another place to gather and visitors another reason to love coming to The Street.”

Ronsky's will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week through the end of 2016. It is located at 3 Boylston St., next to Star Market and the newly opened MiniLuxe and Brookline Liquor Mart.

"The Pop-Up has hosted some of the most innovative local brands; each one has been incredibly special but to welcome a chef of Ron’s caliber, and see him create something so specific to our property is absolutely amazing. We could not be more thrilled," Allison Yee, general manager of The Street, said in a release.
