BC Student Reports Assault Near Cleveland Circle

The student told police two men approached her as she walked home, and one physically assaulted her.

CHESTNUT HILL, MA – Police are investigating after a Boston College student reported she was sexually assaulted as she returned home early Sunday morning.

According to a statement from Boston College police, the student said she was walking to her off-campus residence from Mary Ann's in Cleveland Circle around 2:30 a.m. when two males began following her. One, who identified himself as "Jimmy," allegedly grabbed her and physically assaulted her while she walked behind 2000 Commonwealth Ave., the student told police.

State police referred to the attack as a "sexual assault."

The attacker was described as a black male, 5 feet 8 inches tall to 6 feet tall with a flat top haircut. The other male was described as white with brown hair, though he was not directly involved in the assault, police said.

The student broke free and fled the area without further incident, according to a police statement.

Police at Boston College are advising students to report suspicious behavior and activity to authorities immediately at 617-552-4444 on campus or 911 off campus.
