Who Were Newton's Fastest Boston Marathon Runners?

Some people don't even dream of running a sub 7-minute mile, let alone for 26.2 miles during the Boston Marathon.

Among the more than 27,000 runners from all over the world who took to the Boston Marathon course yesterday were a number of Newton residents. And some speedy ones at that. Edward Waller was the fastest Newton man to run the Marathon coming in 255 out of 14,438 men who finished the 2017 Boston Marathon.

He did it in just over 2 hours and 43 minutes. That means Waller ran about a 6 minute 15 second mile - for the entire 26.2 mile course.

The fastest Newton Lady to run Boston this year was Chunhua Liu running the course at a 7:28 pace and crossing the finish line at Copley with a finishing time of 3:15:38.
