Bottle Of Whiskey Thrown Through Home Window: Newton Police Logs

Someone reportedly threw a bottle through a house's second-floor window and broke it, one person told Newton Police.

NEWTON, MA — Here's a sample of the types of calls the Newton Police Department respond to each day. The following snippets are chosen by the Newton Police and sent to the Patch. Arrests do not imply conviction.

Tuesday, October 24

Shoplifter: Someone at the Betsy Jenny clothing store on Union Street called to report that around 2:30 p.m. a woman came into the store and took a gray small sweater without paying. The employee described the woman as a petite white woman about 20-years old, with short hair pulled back, a nose ring and some sort of accent.

Wednesday, October 25

Shoplifting the booze: A Newton Highlands Wine and Spirits employee called to report a man, came in and stole a 1 liter bottle of Hennesy from the store. The caller described the man as white, around 5'8 possibly 17 with a gray shirt inside out with a Nike symbol, wearing a black baseball hat, and dark shoes.

Don't leave your purse unattended: A woman called to report someone stole her purse while she was at Wegman’s. She told police that after she bought her groceries and rolled outside with her cart, she realized she forgot something inside. She parked her cart and went inside to grab it. She got back outside to her cart about a minute later and wheeled the cart to her car. It wasn't until she was unloading her groceries that she realized her purse was missing. She told police she thought it probably happened that someone snagged the purse when she went back into the grocery store for that quick minute to grab the thing she'd left behind.

Lamps don't just walk off: Someone at the Crate and Barrel at the Mall off of Rt. 9 reported three women came in through the back of the store, two walked around looking at items and left through the front door another just took a lamp. The employee described all three women as black, saying two were about 5'10 and another was about 5'5 wearing a black leather baseball hat, a black leather jacket , black leggings with her hair pulled black. No word on whether anyone attempted to stop any of them.

Warrant Arrest: Georgy Usenskiy, 22, of Commonwealth Ave. in Newton was arrested on account of two active warrants out of Brookline District Court and Dedham District Court.

Saturday, Oct. 28

Lost and found: Someone came into the Newton Police Headquarters to report a stolen motorcycle. He said he parked is 2007 Kawasaki Motorcycle on Ricker Road and then a couple days later it was gone.

Sunday, Oct. 29.

Smashed window: A Ward Street resident called police to report they were sleeping when they heard a loud smash that woke them up. They reported after they woke up they went to the second floor bedroom and found a bottle of Jameson had been thrown through the window breaking the glass and knocking the TV off the stand. They did not see a vehicle but believed they heard one drive off after the bottle had been thrown.

Attempted break in: A Centre Street resident called to report someone tried to break in.

Monday, Oct. 30

Vandal: Someone on Simms Court reported all four of the tires of their car were slashed and then the driver's side body of the car had been keyed.

Leave valuables out of site: Someone called police to let them know someone broke into their car while it was parked on Fisher Ave.
