McCoy's business began in 1988, when she started selling invitations, stationary and birth announcements out of the trunk of her car. She eventually moved to a storefront in Wellesley, where she curated customizable gifts, stationary and party supplies for 16 years.
After closing the store in Wellesley, she created "Penelope" to take her business on the road.
