Miranda Gelch in THE SOUND OF MUSIC at North Shore Music Theatre

17-year old Miranda Gelch in THE SOUND OF MUSIC at NSMT

17-year old Newton actress Miranda Gelch has been cast in North Shore Music Theatre’s (NSMT) production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC.  Miranda will be playing the role of ‘Novice Nun’ in the teen ensemble of the professional production that will run June 11 – June 23.

Making her North Shore Music Theatre debut, Miranda was most recently seen in “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” as ‘Rosemary’ at Walnut Hill School for the Arts where she is a senior.  Her regional theater credits include “Grey Gardens” with both The Cape Playhouse and The Lyric Stage Company as well as numerous productions with Weston Drama Workshop, Newton Country Players, The Footlight Club and Turtle Lane Playhouse.  Entering Penn State University in the fall, Miranda recently received the Young Arts Honorable Mention Award for both Theatre/Spoken and Musical.

One of the world's most beloved musicals, THE SOUND OF MUSIC is directed by James Brennan.  When a novice nun proves too high-spirited for the religious life, she is dispatched to serve as governess for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain. Her growing rapport with the youngsters, coupled with her generosity of spirit, gradually captures the heart of the stern Captain.  The show's finale is one of the most thrilling and inspirational ever presented in the theatre.
