Teen Dating Violence. Join teens looking to empower each other to end this.

Teen dating violence affects 1 in 4 dating teens but most go unreported. What are the warning signs of an abusive relationship? Learn more at the Love is Respect Walk on 5/17 at 7 pm.

Did you know that nearly 1 in 4 teens dating will experience some type of physical, emotional or verbal abuse from their dating partner, but only 1/3 of those will ever report this?  Or that girls who are in abusive relationships as teens are far more likely to be in abusive relationships as adults?  Or that abused teens are more likely to committ suicide, get pregnant or contract a STD?

To raise awareness about teen dating violence, including warning signs and what we can all do to break the cycle, Senior Girl Scout Troop 63053 in partnership with REACH Beyond Domestic Violence is hosting an empowering evening walk on Friday, May 17, 7:00-9:00 PM.  The walk will start and end at the Hyde Center in Newton Highlands, and travel around Crystal Lake. Event includes speakers from REACH and a candle lit ceremony.

Parents and teens and others are invited to come.  Consider wearing white in support of peace.  More information can be found on Facebook at Love Is Respect.
