Dear Mr. Feinberg,

Our mortgage company, like so many local businesses, was shocked, overwhelmed, and impacted by the violent bombings on April 15 during the Boston Marathon. In the ensuing weeks, as both individuals and a business, we looked for ways to heal, and help.

One of our efforts in the immediate aftermath, hearing how the businesses in the Back Bay were incurring losses, was to organize a day of shopping and dining on Boylston Street. Since our branch of Fairway Independent Mortgage is located in the suburbs of Boston (Needham, MA) we thought it would be a great show of support to bring in business people from the suburbs to spend money in the re-opened yet struggling businesses. Our B2B Boston Strong event on May 8th was a success, with over 60 people participating, and 100 promotional gift bags distributed on Boylston Street.

Part of our commitment was to donate 5% of all the receipts from the May 8th event to The One Fund, and a total of $15,000 was spent in various businesses that day. However, knowing that “commitment to serve” is one of the core values of our company, we were sure others would be interested in supporting The One fund as well.

Sure enough, we were not disappointed. The call went out through our corporate offices located in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. In less than a month, over 40 branches nationwide and 38 individual employees generously contributed to the cause.

Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation is pleased to present a check for $50,000 to The One Fund. We are grateful for the creation of such a fund and trust that the monies will be disbursed in a way to benefit those who suffered most through this tragedy.
