Bitter cold weather is on the way to New England. When will it arrive in Newton?

NEWTON, MA - Winter is finally getting real after an unusually mild December.
Temperatures will be seasonably cold as the first blast of Arctic air sweeps into the region on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
Low temperatures on Monday night will fall into the single digits in many interior locations across the region, and into the teens near the coast, according to meteorologists.

A low temperature of 7 degrees is predicted for Monday night in Newton, and 16 degrees Tuesday night.
Plan on extra time to bundle up the kids if they are heading to the school bus stop Tuesday morning. Tuesday is expected to be sunny with high temperatures in the low 20s.

The cold air will also trigger bands of ocean effect snow in parts of eastern Massachusetts and the coastal waters, according to the National Weather Service.
There will be a mix of sun and clouds, with temperatures in the high 30s on Sunday.
