Aston Magna — America's longest-running festival of music on period instruments, now in its 53rd season — closes its Newton series at The Allen Center in West Newton with Gems from 17th Century Venice: music of Monteverdi, Salamone Rossi, and Barbara Strozzi. Performers: Sophie Michaux, mezzo-soprano; Catherine Liddell, theorbo; Laura Jeppesen, viola da gamba; Daniel Stepner and Julie Leven, baroque violins. Thursday, August 6 at 7:00 PM.
