Car Crashes Into Newton-Wellesley Hospital ER

This afternoon a car crashed into the Newton Wellsley Hospital ER. "It could have been worse," said a spokesperson for the hospital.

NEWTON, MA — Just after 2 p.m. a car crashed into the Newton Wellesley Hospital's Emergency Room, shaking up a bunch of people, but injuring no one.

"Thank God nobody inside was hurt. There was nobody in that part of the ER," said Bryan O'dea, a hospital spokesperson.

The ER is still open for business and it didn't appear that there was much damage beyond shattered glass, he said.

Police are on the scene he said, investigating what may have caused the incident. Officials are also checking to see what kind of structural damage there may be. Photos from New England Fire Photography show a gray Kia that appears to have crashed into a window but it doesn't appear to have driven far into the building - if at all.

"Fortunately there were no serious injuries, the two occupants are just shaken up. It could have been much worse," said O'Dea who referred Patch to police on why the car, with two occupants, drove into the building.
