David J. Wolfe, MD, MPH, Joins Newton-Wellesley Hospital
Waban Resident Named Chair of Psychiatry

Newton-Wellesley Hospital (NWH) is pleased to announce that David J. Wolfe, MD, MPH, has been named Chair of the Department of Psychiatry, effective January 1, 2019. In this role, Dr. Wolfe will have clinical, administrative and educational responsibilities for psychiatric services and programs at NWH.
Dr. Wolfe has an impressive background and has established himself as a visionary in the field. He is well-recognized for strengthening the connection between clinical and psychiatric research with other areas of medicine.

Dr. Wolfe joins Newton-Wellesley from Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), where since 2016 he has served as Associate Vice Chair for Clinical Services; Chief, Division of Ambulatory Services; and Director, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Services, Department of Psychiatry. He has served as an Attending Psychiatrist at BWH since 2006. Throughout his sixteen-year career at BWH, Dr. Wolfe has been a valuable collaborator on numerous committees, including those addressing delirium and psychiatric-medical co-morbidities. Previously, he also served as a consulting psychiatrist at Quincy Medical Health Center and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
Dr. Wolfe is committed to innovation, and throughout his career has been actively involved in research. He has worked to advance education as a director, co-director and lecturer in the Harvard Longwood Psychiatric Residency Training Program (HLPRTP) and fellowship programs at BWH. Dr. Wolfe is widely published and a frequent presenter, most recently of “Opioid Use Disorders: Implications and Opportunities for Primary Care.” He is an Instructor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Wolfe received his Medical Degree and MPH from Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the HLPRTP, and fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine at BWH.
He resides in Waban with his family.
