Diesel Spill After Truck Crashes Into a Tree in Newton
Tremont Street was closed for a time Monday as crews worked to contain the leak.

NEWTON, MA – Emergency crews worked Monday to contain a diesel leak after a truck crashed into a tree in Newton.
The Newton Fire Department said the crash occurred around on Tremont Street near the Boston line. Tremont Street was closed for a time while crews worked to contain the spill.
Newton Fire Department spokesman Eric Fricke told the Newton TAB that it was not known how much of the truck's 80-gallon tank had spilled out, though the city's hazmat spill contractor was called.

The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital.
