About Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra
Pro Arte was founded in 1978 by Larry Hill and a group of fellow musicians who aspired to belong to a different orchestra model. He wrote that, among other traits, “Pro Arte is a cooperative of free-lance musicians organized to combat the cynicism and alienation common to the life of a free-lance musician.” One of the few self-governing ensembles playing today, we continue to stand by that philosophy as we take Larry’s vision into the future, changing the way the world thinks about musicians, conductors, and orchestras.
