Don't Get a Ticket: Parking Ban in Newton

The winter parking ban goes into effect later this month, and the fine has increased from $5 to $25.

The Newton Police Department reminds everyone in the city that from Nov. 15 to April 15, the winter barking ban is in effect.

During that time, is against the law for any vehicle, other than an emergency vehicle, to be parked on any street, way, highway, road, parkway or private way that is dedicated or open to the use of the public for an hour or less between 2-6 a.m.

Translation: Don’t park for more than an hour on a public way overnight during the winter or you’ll get a ticket. And that’s gone up. Now, you’ll get a $25 fine, increased from $5 last year.
