A man left his keys in his car overnight and when he woke up it was gone. And other stories from the Newton Police logs.

Thursday, Oct. 19

Shoplifting: Sephorah Amenra, 24, of Newton was arrested at 8:55 p.m. for shoplifting at Walgreens on Beacon Street.

Drinking and driving: Someone called to report a car had driven into a tree near the corner of Watertown Street at Kensington Street. Two cars appeared to be involved in the crash but no one was placed under arrest
at the time because of possible injuries sustained from the crash. A 30-year-old Newton man was mailed a citation for failure to yield to oncoming traffic, operating with a suspended license for OUI, open container;
OUI liquor, 2rd offense and leaving the scene of personal injury.

Dude, where's my car?: A Curve Street resident called to report that he woke up around midnight and noticed his car was gone from where he parked it in front of his home. He told police he'd left his keys in the car. And the car was unlocked.

Attempted: An officer responded to 400 Block Waltham St. along with numerous other units to an attempted larceny of a bike. stated that he was on the second floor of his house and heard voices in his driveway. He looked out his window and saw two men just outside his garage. One party was
described as a light skinned Hispanic male approximately 5'6" and riding a bike. The second was
described as a white male 6'0" with dark hair and wearing a purple hooded sweatshirt. Both
parties were approximately 15 years old the man told police. The man who called police told them he saw one try to wheel the bike away, but when he saw the caller, left the bike and the property and headed Northbound on Waltham St. Police said they couldn't find any suspects.
