Drunk Driver Hits Tree, Suffers Head Injury, Newton Cops Say

Police said a drunk driver slammed into a tree on Dartmouth Street Monday.
The 21-year-old Newton resident suffered a head injury. He was hospitalized and charged with OUI and reckless driving. His name was not released.
Police said the crash happened near Prince Street. When an officer discovered the man in the driver's seat, there was a "strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from him," according to a police report.
The man had bloodshot eyes and was slurring his words, according to the report.
